Loved this sonic screwdriver, while as some of the reviews pointed out, yeah it's cheap plastic, but that's kinda obvious from the images and description, and price! It looks like Matt's screwdriver and it lights up which is kinda cool! The light washes out the green of the tip and is also finicky (I can hear the batteries jitter around when I shake it). Would not suggest it for cosplay, especially if you plan on swishing it and sonicing it around everywhere lol. This for me was more meant for display as I wanted it to go with my Doctor Who show collection and other merch whenever I buy it! Since Matt is my favorite Doctor, it fits perfect here! The only issue I had was with USPS shipping! It was a nightmare. The product was supposed to be delivered on the 16th but didn't arrive! On the tracking it said that it was held in a USPS post office, but also gave me the option for redelivery, which I chose obviously cause that's the convenience I paid for!Good right? No, it was supposed to ship within the next two days but never did, the tracking never even updated and I couldn't even get a hold of someone to resolve it. The Amazon seller basically blew me off saying "with recent events shipping is slow".It wasn't a problem with shipping, it was with the USPS post office! They HATE delivering to my area and often time's do stuff like this saying "no one was home" even though my brothers and I are homeschooled and our mother works from home, there's always two people at home at a time. On top of that, they will drive the circle up our street, stop in front of our house, then just... leave! Not dropping the package off and demanding that we go to the post office to pick it up!This is most likely what they did with this. They didn't feel like delivering it and waited for me to come to the post office and going through the whole process before telling me that they were gonna ship it (this was about 4 days after I was supposed to receive the item originally), and sure enough, they did... but they didn't bother to notify, and still have not updated tracking, leaving the box in a puddle in the rain! Thank goodness the screwdriver was encased in plastic!Other than all of that, I would say that if you want a nice cheap display piece and don't want to shell out the $100 for the really good one (which I will buy soon) do get this! Am mostly happy with purchase, would have gotten five stars if USPS and the seller would have been more cooperative!I got into Doctor Who earlier this year at the start of the sixth series, catching up on the rest of the reboot over the summer break. As of now I'm doing my best to get into the classics, but that's proving a little harder at the moment. Time constraints and all.Regardless, since then I've gotten a little nutty about collecting Doctor Who related items, the sonic screwdriver chief among them. Mostly because I'm a sucker for replicas. The other because, well, sonics are cool. I've so far purchased the 9th/10th's Screwdriver toy, the "Future" Sonic Screwdriver and now this handy little gadget. For the price it's a pretty good deal.A good deal so long as you don't expect the best of replications. I said "little" gadget for a reason: the thing is TINY. I looked up comparison shots between it and the full-sized (over-sized?) toy replica and I was still surprised when I opened the package. It measures just shy of 15 cm/6 inches. Or, just a little shorter than the 10th's screwdriver. It's also surprisingly lightweight, having only a little heft in the top half thanks to the batteries (which came pre-installed, to my surprise). When you hold it in your hand, you get the impression that the bottom half is almost empty, filled only by a few wires too light to notice. Having said, it is easy to balance on the finger, at least for me. It's light, but it doesn't feel lopsided, nor very fragile. I've purposely dropped it a few times on my carpeted floor to test it out and no damage was done. I wouldn't risk it on harder flooring, though. As well, the details are remarkably well done for what is a relatively cheap flashlight. The black segment is a smooth, rubber-like material that has raised stitching in it; there are (plastic) bolts in the "claw" at the top and enough work done to give the impression that this thing could open up. It doesn't, sadly, nor does it make a single sound, contrary to what the listing claims. However, as I said before, it is still a fabulous piece. For $15 you get a (very bright!) flashlight made to look like an iconic piece from a favorite show. The small size also makes it much more portable compared to other replicas: I can easily fit it into an inside breast pocket to take it with me. Not that I would, of course, that'd just be silly. Ridiculous. So forth.Bottom line: If you want a nice lookalike that won't run you too much, this little flashlight is a fine choice. If you want a more screen accurate replica, I'd go with the toy (based on the one my sister has). This is a great toy torch for you and looks well made. As of other reviews it isn't a replacement for a powerful torch you already have as it's a toy. Please note it doesn't work on woodIt doesn't change iPhones into phones to call people in different dimensionsSince we got it we haven't been attacked by cyber men or darleks though which is greatYou can scarcely imagine the disappointment of a 7-year old boy who already owns a collection of Sonic Screwdrivers when his latest acquisition arrives and it’s just... well... a fancy looking torch. Not really a very big or bright torch at that.Crushingly disappoined with this item. Whilst it’s clear that it’s a toy and will not function as a screwdriver, one could at least expect it to make some noise? What can you say about a Dr Who Sonic Screwdriver Torch...my 10 year old loves this and is very excited, I have been zapped into a puff of smoke..so should not really be writing this ..fantastic for imaginative play, not only for the children but the grown ups to..(if you have visited the Space Centre earlier in the year - if you did not you must & dress up)..just what my son wanted to spend his pocket money on & now reads his books under the bed clothes ..or is that another one of these - he has at least 6...smile & they are all supposed to be different?? I am just a mum what do I know..:)This expensive item is much smaller than expected and does nothing except light up. I should have read the reviews!Nice torch was a great last minute addition to a costume for world book day. Has also been used for reading in bed
